Update: 22 November 2019

Replacement of AUSKey with myGovID

Good Morning

We are sending you this important information, as a user of the Department of Social Services' Data Exchange. This message is to inform you about the replacement of AUSkey with a new digital identity called myGovID.

Background:

AUSkey is a secure login which allows you to access many Government online services. The Australian Tax Office (ATO) manages AUSkey and have decided to retire this credential at the end of March 2020. After this date you will not be able to use AUSkey to access government online services, and will need to have new digital identity in myGovID which is linked to the RAM (Relationship Authorisation Manager). Please note that you can continue using your AUSkey until its retirement in March 2020.

We are currently working with the ATO to enable our online services to accept myGovID and RAM. We are also working on transition activities to help you to move to myGovID and RAM before March 2020. Go to https://info.authorisationmanager.gov.au to learn more about RAM.

What you can do:

To make your transition easier, we ask that you follow the instructions in “How to Clean-Up your AUSkey Data.pdf”. Also, the ATO recommends that you:

  • Keep your Australian Business Number (ABN) details up-to-date to ensure a smooth change for you and your business. You can do this by checking your ABN details are up-to-date in the Australian Business Register (ABR).
  • If you are an AUSkey Administrator, login to AUSkey Manager at www.abr.gov.au/auskey and check if your nominated AUSkey users and contact details are correct.
  • Set up myGovID or view more information about an online digital identity at https://www.mygovid.gov.au
  • Subscribe to receive Data Exchange updates to find out when RAM can be linked to the Data Exchange and Grant Recipient Portal.

What’s Next:

We are currently working with the ATO to enable our online services to accept myGovID and RAM. We are also working on transition activities to help you to move to myGovID and RAM before March 2020. The Department of Social Services will test our system in early December 2019. Following testing, further communication will be sent out to help you link your myGovID and RAM to our online services.
